Here in Productivity Land, it is “Second Brain” week, in other words, the week that Tiago Forte’s book, Building a Second Brain: A Proven Method to Organise Your Digital Life and Unlock your Creative Potential was published.

I have been following Tiago’s blog posts and YouTube videos for a couple of years and early last year wrote a blog post, Personal Knowledge Management for Spoonies.

It is no lie that I have been a fan of tech for umpteen years, pretty much since tech became a thing. But what I am newer to is being a Spoonie, although I have worn that label for about seven years now.

It is interesting to know that the whole second brain movement came from Tiago wanting to gain control of and document a chronic illness. Thankfully his illness was curable by the sound of things. But he understood the value of the system he was creating.

In the last couple of months, it has really come to my attention that because I love tech and Apps I have been using lots of them, and this resulted in my “mind” being all over the place. I am certainly not going to stop playing with apps any time soon. But what I have begun doing is going full in on properly setting up my second brain.

In other words, keeping a journal (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Notes), keeping a record of all the visual media that I am consuming and my thoughts on any written media that warrants it. In the same space, I jot down any random thoughts and ideas that may be of interest at some point and in fact draft the thoughts I want to share with you.

Although initially this sounds like hard work and pulling all my loose strings together is a bit monotonous. I am already seeing the benefits. Obsidian is an amazing tool for letting you know where thoughts collide. I will be writing a longer main blog post really explaining this at some point in the not-too-distant future.

As a Spoonie really investing in this process is going to help me so much when the dreaded Fibro Fog hits. In terms of Content Creation as a blogger, I believe this will really help me to make sure the content I am producing for you is relevant without being filled with holes, that I thought about talking about, and then forgot.

Until next time,
Susan
